Best Coway Air Purifier: Powerful Models for Your Home

Best Coway air purifier models

The best Coway air purifier is the one sized for your room. Most people should buy the Airmega Mighty2 or the original Mighty for bedrooms up to about 360 sq ft, the Airmega 100 or 150 for small rooms, and the Airmega 450 or ProX for large, open spaces. Check room size and filter cost before you pay.

Air Purifiers Hub has not tested these units. Every spec below comes from Coway's own US pages and manuals, with third-party tests and certification databases used for context, and manufacturer claims are labeled as claims. Prices are Coway's US list prices from early November 2026. Coway runs promotions often, so check its site before you buy.

How to read Coway's room-size numbers

Coway quotes coverage at different air-change rates: 4.8 per hour on the 100, 150 and Mighty; 4 on the 250, 300 and ProX; and 1 or 2 on the 400 and 450. The Mighty is the classic example: Coway lists 1,748 sq ft at one air change per hour, 874 sq ft at two, and 361 sq ft at 4.8. Only the last number is a realistic bedroom size.

AHAM and the Washington State Department of Health suggest a smoke CADR of at least two-thirds of the room's floor area (8-foot ceilings), which works out to roughly five air changes per hour. We convert from smoke CADR for every model — which is the conservative, like-for-like basis.

Coway Airmega Mighty vs Mighty2: what changed

Both are aimed at bedrooms and living rooms, and the Mighty2 is a modern evolution of the original. HouseFresh reports it launched in March 2026 and outperformed the original in its own tests.

Best Coway air purifiers for small rooms

Coway Airmega 100 and 150 for small rooms

Airmega 100: for a desk or nightstand

Coway's spec sheet lists CADRs of 108 (smoke), 124 (dust) and 112 (pollen) CFM and 167 sq ft at 4.8 air changes. A 3-in-1 filter (vacuumable pre-filter, HEPA and deodorization) is rated for 12 months, noise runs 20 to 48 dB(A), power use is 25 W, and the filter was listed at $39.99.

Suits: a dorm, nursery or small office. Not for: rooms over about 167 sq ft.

Coway Airmega 150: for small bedrooms

A three-stage purifier (pre-filter, deodorization filter, HEPA filter) with CADRs of 153 (smoke), 161 (dust) and 220 (pollen), and 214 sq ft at 4.8 air changes. Coway rates the deodorization filter at six months and the HEPA filter at one year, lists noise at 19.98 to 48.3 dB(A) and power at 35 W, and prices it at $189.99. Comes in Dove White, Sage Green and Peony Pink. The Airmega 160 is listed as a variant that shares its filter set.

Suits: bedrooms and offices up to about 214 sq ft where looks and low noise matter. Not for: larger rooms, or anyone buying purely on cleaning power per dollar.

Best Coway air purifiers for medium rooms

Coway Airmega Mighty and 250 for medium rooms

Airmega Mighty (AP-1512HH): the best-known Coway air purifier

Coway lists 361 sq ft at 4.8 air changes, filters rated at six months (deodorization) and one year (HEPA), five airflow stages (Auto, 1, 2, 3, Eco), and a 1, 4 or 8 hour timer. A washable pre-filter makes upkeep cheap. Retailer listings describe it as ENERGY STAR certified. HouseFresh calls it a solid performer for the money that it now considers a little dated after testing 90-plus purifiers.

Suits: bedrooms and offices up to about 360 sq ft. Not for: larger rooms or anyone avoiding ionizers. Read our full Coway Mighty review →

Airmega 250: the mid-priced step up

Lists CADRs of 249 (smoke), 261 (dust) and 230 (pollen). Coway cites 465 sq ft at four air changes per hour, which is about 386 sq ft at 4.8. It uses a washable pre-filter and a Max2 filter (carbon plus HEPA) listed at one year. The 250 is $399, the 250S (app-enabled) $449, and the 250 White $499.

Suits: larger bedrooms and living rooms. Not for: buyers who only need a Mighty-size unit; the Mighty has a similar smoke CADR for less.

Best Coway air purifiers for large rooms

Coway Airmega large room air purifiers

Airmega 300 and 350

The 300 lists CADRs of 285 (smoke), 306 (dust) and 339 (pollen) and a $549 price, with a Max2 filter set rated at one year. The 350 lists 352 (smoke), 376 (dust) and 450 (pollen) and 2,640 sq ft at one air change per hour — about 546 sq ft at 4.8 by our calculation. Both suit large living rooms; the 350 cleans faster per our CADR-based sizing.

Airmega 400 and 400S

Coway lists CADRs of 328 (smoke), 328 (dust) and 400 (pollen), 1,560 sq ft at two air changes — about 508 sq ft at 4.8. The 400 costs $649.00 and the Wi-Fi 400S $749, with a Max2 filter rated for 6 to 12 months.

Suits: large open rooms. Not for: budget buyers — see the 450 instead.

Airmega 450

Lists CADRs of 439 (smoke), 445 (dust) and 450 (pollen), and about 680 sq ft at 4.8 — close to the 687 sq ft ENERGY STAR's listing shows for the 450S. It uses a custom 3-in-1 filter in three versions, rated 12 months, at $109 each. At $499 it is the strongest value among Coway's large-room units on paper.

Best Coway air purifier for extra-large spaces: Airmega ProX

Coway's spec sheet lists CADRs of 596 (smoke), 580 (dust) and more than 450 (pollen), 1,063 sq ft at four air changes — about 924 sq ft at 4.8. Suits: very large, open spaces. Not for: small or medium rooms.

The Airmega Halo is new at $229.99, and Coway cites 1,898 sq ft at one air change per hour. We found no CADR or certification data, so check Coway's page before relying on it.

What S, M, Art and the older model names mean

An "S" marks a Wi-Fi version. Coway prices the MightyS at $299.99 versus $239.99 for the base, the 250S at $449 versus $399, and the 400S at $749 versus $649 — a $50 to $100 premium. "Art" is a design variant, and the 200M shares the Mighty's filter set. Coway's test disclaimers also list the Icon, IconS, 230, 240 and the AP-1216L tower; we did not find them on Coway's current US store, so check availability before you shop used or at retailers.

Coway filters: life, cost and cleaning

Most Coway air purifiers use a washable or vacuumable pre-filter plus a HEPA filter with a deodorization layer. The Mighty and 150 pair a six-month deodorization filter with a one-year HEPA filter; the Mighty2, 250, 300, 400 and ProX use a Max2 filter that Coway lists at about a year. The Mighty2 filter was listed at $69.99 and the 450 filter at $109; the 100's was $39.99.

Cleaning the Mighty's pre-filter (Coway's steps):

  1. Open the front cover and pull the pre-filter out.
  2. Clean it with water or a vacuum, then dry it fully.
  3. Fit it back, close the cover and hold the reset button for 2 seconds.

Coway Airmega manual, warranty and app

Find a Coway Airmega manual on Coway's product support page, or on each model's product page under Support. Match the exact model name, because variants such as 250 and 250S have separate documents. Register for warranty on Coway's site; warranty terms are listed there, and retailer listings quote different lengths, so use Coway's page as the source.

Are Coway air purifiers good? Evidence and limits

The third-party record is strong but not flawless. Wirecutter's long-running recommendation is cited by Coway, and independent reviews are mixed on the details: Vice's tester praises the Mighty's reliability, HouseFresh calls the Mighty solid but dated and the 150 average for its size, and Mighty2 coverage is still early.

Limits to weigh: room-size claims are quoted at different air-change rates; the original Mighty has an ionizer; the base models have no Wi-Fi; and filters add a yearly cost. Portable air cleaners reduce airborne particles but do not remove every pollutant. The EPA says several studies of portable HEPA cleaners show small improvements in cardiovascular and respiratory health, and that cleaners do not address the cause of mold. An air purifier is not a medical treatment. To compare Coway with other brands, see our best air purifiers guide and HEPA air purifiers category. Looking for deals? Our verdict

Buy the Mighty2 for the bedroom unless $30 decides it, in which case buy the Mighty. Take the 100 or 150 for small rooms, the 250 or 300 only if the Mighty is too small, the 450 for big rooms, and the ProX only for truly huge spaces. Whichever Coway air purifier you choose, size it from smoke CADR at 4.8 air changes, price the filters, and check the exact model name and certification before you pay. Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the best Coway air purifier?

It depends on room size. The Airmega Mighty or Mighty2 suits rooms up to about 360 sq ft, the 100 and 150 suit small rooms, and the 450 or ProX suit large spaces.

2. What is the difference between the Coway Mighty and Mighty2?

The Mighty (AP-1512HH, $239.99) has a bipolar device, a light indicator and 77 W power use. The Mighty2 (AP-1512N, $269.99) has a laser PM sensor, no bipolar device listed, 56 W power use and a one-year filter set.

3. What do S, M and Art mean in Coway Airmega names?

S marks a Wi-Fi version, Art is a design variant, and the 200M shares the Mighty's filter set. Coway's S-model premiums run $50 to $100.

4. How often should I replace Coway filters, and how do I clean the pre-filter?

Coway rates deodorization filters at about six months and HEPA or Max2 filters at about one year. Wash or vacuum the pre-filter, dry it fully, and reset the indicator for 2 seconds.

5. Is a Coway HEPA air purifier true HEPA?

Coway describes its filters as True HEPA or Green True HEPA. HEPA filters are designed to capture at least 99.97% of 0.3-micron particles; Coway's higher figures are manufacturer claims, so check CADR in the AHAM directory.

6. Do Coway air purifiers produce ozone?

Models with a bipolar device or ionizer need a closer look. The EPA advises avoiding air cleaners that intentionally produce ozone and says CARB and AHAM list tested models.

7. Which Coway Airmega is the quietest?

By Coway's listed minimums, the Mighty2 (19 dB), Airmega 150 (19.98 dB) and Airmega 100 (20 dB) are lowest. Minimum noise is measured on the lowest speed, so expect more on high.

8. Where can I find a Coway Airmega manual?

On Coway's product manuals page, or on each model's product page under Support. Search by exact model name.
